  • [For Sale] 2x Montegos £100 each, save from scrap?

    Hi

I'm a solicitor in Cambridge dealing with the estate of a lady who died last year. At her property is a pair of Montegos. We're now selling the house and we need the cars cleared by the end of this month.

As a classic car lover, I thought I'd better offer them here just in case they are of interest to someone, before I call in the local scrap man. We don't have V5s or keys, and both are locked. They have both been off the road for quite a few years.

    Here are some pictures:

    Many thanks

    Sion

They look a bit gone so I would have thought spares only.

Thank you for offering them up, I think Jeff is right re spares only sadly. Always amazes me how often you see cases like this where cars just get parked up and simply left!

These are literally just down the road from me. They have been there for over 10 years and are rotten. Sadly even if someone wanted something removed I don't really have time in the next couple of weeks. By which time they will be gone.

What a shame that they've both been festering in the elements for so long. Thanks for posting up. Hopefully someone will take them on, even if just for useful spares.

The Gunmetal Grey LX would have been a nice project.

Thanks for your replies guys. I think you're right that they are well past it, but it's worth a shot in case they're of use to someone.

In fact, a Marina at the site was rescued (although probably only for parts!) last week by some enthusiasts from the Marina forum:

Bloody hell, that must have been a mission just to try and move it.

I think it's excellent that you as a solicitor thought to consult this group before having the cars scrapped, they may be beyond saving but it's so refreshing to think that there are people in positions like yours that consider this country's motoring heritage. How many classics have gone to scrap yard's because solicitors have just thought there's some knackered car sitting in the garden or garage

I saw the ad in the Marina Forum and suggested he try advertising the Montegos in here. In the pics he put up of the Marina you could see the Montegos in the background. Maybe the rust is just surface rust on the montegos..... or am i just being optimistic????

If it was merely surface rust, I'd be after that Gunmetal Grey LX. I should imagine its pretty rotten though.

Hmm well if someone can then perhaps if time permits, someone near can go have a poke with pointy hammer. Rear arches and sill can be replaced so providing structure is ok 100 might be worth a punt. I aint got anywhere to keep either or any way of getting them north unfortunatly!

It's not too far from me but I already have enough projects.
If it's just curiosity I'm not interested but I have 2 days clear next week now so if anyone wants me to report on the cars for them get in touch.
I have to find a few parts in my spares for John and that'll take awhile so maybe one day free
