Welcome to the Maestro and Montego Owners Club. Why not post in the Welcome & Feedback forum and introduce yourself?
I doubt another will come along like this for a very, very long time.
Advertise it well, hold out for a good price, this is a unique car in unique condition.
Obviously your circumstance might dictate that you need to let it go 'cheaply' however there will be someone out there willing to pay for the condition / history of this car.
You must be gutted at even having to think of selling it - good luck.
Been approached by a classic car dealer saying he want to buy my car i dont really want to sell to a dealer they would only turn it around and stick a couple of grand on it any views ?

I suppose it depends on two key factors: 1) will they buy it at a price you are happy with compared to what you are possibly looking for through a private sale, and 2) how soon do you ultimately have to sell it?
If time is not an important issue and there is not an immediate issue over storing it, then this might help you get the best price possible for it. You may have to hold out until the 'right' buyer hears about it being for sale and approaches you. For this you may need to advertise it further afield such as on the CarandClassic.co.uk website, MG M Group website and in paid adverts in Classic Car Weekly and/or MG Enthusiast magazine.
A classic car dealer might not offer you the best price/the price you are really wanting to realise - and it would be a crime to lower your expectations on such a genuine example as this one. However, they will take it off your hands, keep it in storage and do all the leg work in trying to find a buyer - usually the one with the wonga gets it first.
If it was me, I would want to hold out and sell it to a buyer who I would have faith in maintaining it to the standard I had already set for it and not potentially spoiling its original charm by lowering the suspension three inches, putting non period or aftermarket wheels on it, adding an alloy intercooler and dump valves etc.
Some buyers will actually pay a dealer more than they would be prepared to pay in a private sale for several reasons:
*Finance may be available
*Part exchange may be available
*Perception of after-sales service
If you can persuade a dealer to part with a sum that you feel happy with or sell it on a commission basis (£5k perhaps?!) then if he adds another couple of thousand on top and actually gets it, there would be no guarantee that the eventual buyer would have beat a path to your door if you had advertised it privately. Many dealers are complaining that they cannot find quality stock these days.
You have done the right thing by putting the word out in 'the community' first, so that nobody can complain that they would have bought it off you if they had known it was for sale.
If nobody comes along, then a specialist dealer or even a classic vehicle auction could well be the next sensible move.

Thanks for comments chaps, tricky one this for me i am not in any hurry to sell, house not sold yet, weather been rubbish, not been able to get car out and give a good clean up and take some more pics of all aspects of the car, i think i will wait till spring and some decent weather comes along and start putting in various mags as suggested i know the guys at THORNFALCON GARAGE very well so if it has to go thru a dealer if all else fails i will give them the first chance
I have already been told off by the dealer no names mentioned that approached me he felt insulted that i would not sell to him,oh dear no one said it would be easy selling such a rare car
I am happy for you to mention our name and even copy and paste our private message dialogue so forum members can see the manner in which I contacted you. I only ask you remove the members name I refer to who can provide a character assessment.
I do not wish to hijack your 'For Sale' post or cause unnecessary stress so will simply end by saying you have a stunning car and I would love to buy it.
Remember to take a look at the Maestro Vans on my website!
Thanks for your your reply Karl what would your offer be for such a stunning car i would prefer you to display your offer hear for everyone to see than send it to me in a private message, over to you Karl
Unfortunately I cannot be the seller and buyer simultaneously. Some other credible members here have suggested figures which I am comfortable with it that helps?
I am happy for you to state your price here in the open, (sometimes a prerequisite of 'For Sale' sections on forum sites), and for me to give my decision in response for all to see if that is how you would like to proceed?
Happy to be guided by you and follow the direction you are comfortable with.
