I am sure it varies from month to month and on location.
There was a while when you had to pay the scrapyard to take the car. Now there is a bit more money in it which was useful when I had to get rid of an old washing machine - although I didn't receive any money a scrap metal dealer collected it from my house for free saving me the £38 the council wanted to charge.

Picked it up today, it's a lot scruffier than the pics show, but does have some good points. Still unsure if I'm using it for interior which I need for van, or repair.
Good bits: starts and drives ok. Seams between A, B and C posts to sills are good, but sills are very bad.
Interior is good generally.
Bonnet and 3 of the doors good.
Bad bits: front wings, bumpers and tailgate all damaged or rusted.
144k miles. Clutch is only just holding up.
NS electric window now working. Central locking only works on 2 doors. Sunroof jammed. Front shocks gone and would need bushes all round.
Car pictured while unloading his new toy today.
