  • [For Sale] One owner 40k miles 1989 Montego1.6L

This one has recently been discovered as the result of a bereavement / house sale. The car is located in West Midlands near Birmingham and is looking for a new home. A club member has been along to take a look at the car and we can summarise as follows.
The car hasn't moved from garage storage for a number of years, but we managed to push it out into the daylight with little difficulty. It's a one owner car with 39K on the clock. Full service history bar the 30K one which was done just prior to it being stored. Its been garaged its whole life so quite sound structurally except for the rear wheel arches (LH is worse then RH) and a bit on the drivers sill. Very little oil dropped on garage floor and the sump is over full. Its a 1.6L model. Should make an easy resto for someone. Needs to go in the next few weeks.

Please get in touch with me if you are interested and I'll pass on genuine enquiries to the owner.

    Nick

Yes I know, I know where there's a new/old stock pump too if new owner needs it.

Car must now go. Get in touch and make a half decent offer and it might be possible to bag a bargain. The house where it lives is now sold so the car will go regardless.

I have spoken to Carly and bought the car today. I’m hoping to get it collected by Monday.

Thank you. The plan is to use it as our ‘Pace Car’ for our Maestro Madness Road Trip.

Thanks everyone. We got it running however the fuel pump was pouring fuel out so I have sourced a NOS replacement. I have started to change all the usual components that might fail. I’m now trying to get the thermostat elbow sorted (see previous post).

Seems I have been beaten to it. I saw the car on classiccarsforsale and thought it might be my way back into Montego ownership.

                              Hi All

I need to replace the shock absorbers, springs and dust covers on the Montego 1.6L that I bought last month. For ease and cost, I'm thinking of just buying a coilover set rather than trying to source all the parts separately. Can anyone point me in the right direction OR know of anyone selling a complete set of original suspension. Many thanks.
