VERY reluctant sale of my L reg diesel Montego estate after 20 years of ownership.

It has been in daily use and is reliable, economical (50mpg+), easily maintained and a good fun drive.

MOT’d to Oct 2023
Mileage 235000

Bodywork is ok for age and needs more TLC than I can give it, lookstatty on top but sound underneath.

FSH with many new/replaced parts to include:-

2022 Front wheel bearing

2021 Rear right handbrake cable

2020 Fuel pump service + new lift pump

2019 New Heavy Duty sills, New Clutch, Gearbox service

2015 Replacement Fuel Tank + Fuel Filler Pipe, Turbo service

2014 New Heater Matrix + Fan assembly, Water Pump + Cam Belt

2013 New Rear Shocks


Some spares including 2 saloon rear doors.


Current faults:-

Sagging but secure headlining.

Tailgate is currently opened from the inside but have replacement key and barrel ready to go on, I have preferred to not change it for the added security.

Periodic water ingress to front footwells.


See the set of photos taken a couple of years ago but not much if anything has changed since then.



I’m looking for £350 or thereabouts.

We have been informed about a Montego Countryman in a scrapyard in Wolverhampton in case anyone wants to salvage any parts.

From Pete’s message:

“6 pictures are attached. Looked complete so could be lots of the usual unobtainum bits ready for plucking! Their prices tend to be very reasonable too. It's a big yard though and they do process cars after a couple of weeks, so you do need to get over there sooner than later, or at least call them up.

The car is at Mainline Salvage in Wolverhampton.
