They don't normally leak except at the jointLast edited by Jeff Turbo; 18th March 2026, 11:03.1958 Ford Consul Convertible. I love this car

You only need a gasket for that. You'll need to remove the pipes from under the dash, pipes connect in the bulkhead and run through to the matrix. You'll need an Allen key to separate and get the metal pipes out. It's the same gasket as a rover sd1 or make your own. Later models used 2 O rings but they perish and rust the pipe where it meets the matrix. Not a big job, just awkwardOriginally posted by Jamie Hutchings View PostSeems to be slight weep from where the pipe goes into the matrix1958 Ford Consul Convertible. I love this car

Is the fan kicking in when it's getting warm?Originally posted by Jamie Hutchings View PostThank you could I also pick your brains on why the car might be running a bit warm too it's a 1.6 auto, We've flushed the coolant system changed the thermostat doesn't appear to have any signs that it's a head gasket and doesn't appear to be any water leaking from water pump
You do not need to remove the dash to remove the heater pipes from the passenger footwell. If you look there you'll see how to remove, and as per my instructions on your earlier thread1958 Ford Consul Convertible. I love this car
