Not sure what i will be coming in. Either a pikey looking van or a fairly tidy metro turbo. If i park the latter on the club pitch will my day end in a whicker man?

Ok I'm feeling a bit naughty and I can't help it.
What's a 'Rover' Maestro/Montego and when did it start?
Both of my MG Turbos have the manufacturer as 'Rover' on their V5s.
Does that mean that theoretically I could enter them into the Rover category?
Sorry, I got a wooden spoon for my birthday last month and I've not used it yet lol.
                  Regards

I think the Rover Maestro, Montego, Metro came into being in 1989 on the facelift Montego series.

Now John, You're taking this far too seriously. ARG/Rover made things difficult enough as it is without you greedily wanting your car to be considered for two categories!

1988 was chosen as our change over point. Owners can decide on the day of the show which one they want to be judged in if they have a late registered car or anything else that doesn't make it blindingly obvious if the car is an Austin or a Rover. It's more of a concern to Maestro owners where the differences are more subtle.

We chose to split 'Best Maestro/Montego into 'Austin' and 'Rover' categories to increase the chance of winning an award on the day. Giving plenty of awards out increases enjoyment for those attending. It was a good opportunity of increasing the number of awards without resorting of obscure categories.

Cars with a prominent MG badge will - unfortunately - be judged in the 'MG' category despite what marque may erroneously be displayed on the log book or tax disc.

There will be no category for vans due to the low numbers attending. Any van attending will be included in one of the 'Maestro' categories.

Sorry I was just feeling mischievous lol. Good clarification though. All joking apart, it should help owners understand what categories they can enter. Thanks for taking the time to type it.

Just out of interest do owners of the Rover/ MG Rover era cars normally attend this or is the cut off end of Maestro/Montego etc production?
