  • Seat changes for MG Montego Turbo

I have aquired two set of front seats with 'Turbo' on and a spare rear seat as the stripe on my drivers seat has detached. Ta Mal
I have swopped over the drivers cover with the passengers and visa verse as the drivers stripe always goes first. Not many people sit in my passenger seat so they should last a while now.
I'm also experimenting with the other front set and rear seat. Both front seats didn't have a stripe or 'turbo' on and the rear was a little tatty so I removed them. I have found a company who maybe able to copy the stripe, sew it on and embroider the 'Turbo' on the front and rear seats as I have requested.

These front seat covers are different to my existing ones and will be modified to fit my existing foam as the frames are the same. The sides are sewn together on later models and have a plastic flat plate sewn on the back, other than that they should be easy to fit.

            Very interesting.

I successfully replaced the front stripes on MGT 396 with this:

            http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=180482524262

...as modelled by it at this year's MGSD. Few people noticed the difference until I pointed it out as it's exactly the right width. The hard bit is sticking the ribbon to the seat. I used fabric adhesive, but if you're handy with a needle and red thread, it would look even better than the original.

Front seats now changed to the Turbo logo.
Old 'MG' seat cover.....now 'Turbo' seat cover. If the logo refurb goes ok and to my liking I may also have my existing 'MG' covers done as they can also replicate that, I might ad 'Turbo' aswell just for something different and a 'one off' so the front and rear have 'MG', 'Turbo' and a fresh new bright red stripe.

I think any tutorial on this kind of thing is worthwhile and a very useful reference, anything that is not covered in the manuals.

Jeff has produced a very good tutorial that was published in a recent issue of Forward! Well worth a read.

I've done the front seats tutorial for middle years Montego's but not the earlier or Rover years as they are different. Should have done one when I stripped these earlier front seats but hey ho. When I put the rears back together again I will take pictures etc.

Embroidered logo that I have accepted. This will now be put on the front and rear seats. The new stripes are also being sewn in at this moment in time

Picked them up today. Although the 'Turbo' isn't exact i'm well happy. The rears look really good with 'Turbo' on them in my opinion.
