    You don't need a VIN plate attatched to any vehicle to pass an MOT so long as it is stamped into the body. The MOT testing manual gives the location's of both VIN plates and body stamps to look for. Its an either/or scenario.

      Yes of course, you are right. A mate's van failed the MoT because there was no VIN number anywhere on the car.

      My Maestro is a 1988 car and has the plate attached to the NS inner door pillar as in the later models. Its great, because it covers a big rusty scab! (Well I'm sure the rust was caused by bi-metallic corrosion between aluminium rivets and steel body)
