  • MG Montego for sale soon

Got my sons MG Montego EFi home yesterday. Needed a major wash after not being driven and in storage for 18 months.
Came up not too bad I think, i've got to re-attach the rubbing strips, MOT it and then it will be up for sale as he now has my old MGZS180.

Not perfect by any means now but it has been extreemly reliable and comfortable as his everyday car.
This is a solid good car that will be sold with the old door, replacement 'efi' decal and set of used MGM efi floor mats.
It's going in for it's MOT next week so it all depends on the result of that, should pass but the car is 26 years old so you never know.

Don't you still have one to collect from Lee's?

You must be trying to collect all the Monty's left on the road!

My H reg one is indeed still at Lee's and I'm hoping to sell it shortly as I won't be able to do any of the work it needs doing to it, just a case at the moment of who it will or may possibly go to.

No not after evey Montego that's left either lol!

Damn shame about that door and engine bay,it looks like it lets a very nice example down, really!! Im not picking holes,i do like it alot, and im specially fond of the early one's!!

I love the red carpet....would love to get my hands on a set!!

Ive never seen that red console bit, behind the stereo, most monty's are blank there, with only the support bar going to the bottom of the heater??? what is it??? Does it blow heat??

Apart from that, good luck with the sale,i hope it gets a new home!!

Until then, ill just wait for the gsi to come up for sale!!!

Engine bay is covered in waxoil from new, so it's been left like that, also as it was his everyday car you wouldn't be able to keep it clean.
The red bit has a piece missing but i've got that bit now. It channels hot air to the rear passengers feet. Also had one on the red shed Turbo Dale
                You can't afford the GSi

Plugs into this that runs either side on the centre consol under the carpet, looks like a spaceship. The carpets from earlier models are also different to accomodate/hide it.

The rear foot well heating ducts that Jeff has posted up above are also the reason why there are two distinctly different shapes of the genuine Unipart/Austin-Rover reversible front rubber floor mats for the Montego. Earlier versions of the floor mat (for cars with the ducting) look rather long and thin.

Passed it's MOT, no advisories, splendid stuff
Waiting for the double sided tape to arrive to re-attached the rubbing strips, Chris wants the original door back on so got to do that aswel.
A good polish all over then up for sale if anyone is interested if not it's going on the bay.
