  • "Tough 'o' the Track" 1.6 HL Auto Estate

Have now collected this from "Alf Tupper".
Only a quick clean this morning, but have a battery on charge, and will likely unload tomorrow.

    So far looks very good.

Great save Mal! It looks really bright and solid. The chrome bits look really nice. What are your plans for it?

"Alf" has already given me a heads up on some of it's issues.

The idea is to find out what else there is to do.
Then I can get on with all the mechanical issues as I did with the B plate saloon, before looking into welding and paint.

Ed, don't forget that looks can be deceiving, especially pictures of freshly washed cars!.

Mind you, now it's dry it's still sort of shiny.

              I've had 2.0 Auto's, but never a 1.6 Auto until now.

Need to make sure I get all the right fluids and filters for it.

Not much has happened until this week due to sourcing correct parts etc.
Still quite a bit to do but this should give a wee taster of the progress so far.

Thanks to a good friend (Jeff), with my prep and his patience we have a newly recovered headliner biscuit.

Replacement wing fitted due to original having added none factory ventilation!
                  Old:

                  New:

Front bumper has been changed out for correct fitment item for the year of the car: (yet to fully bolt up due to wing fitment needing "fettling")

Terrific work there Mal. Headlining looks lovely and crisp. It looks much better with the standard bumper.

Loving that grey HL interior. Yummy.

I'm hoping I can get all the repair / MOT work done by the end of next month now that the weather is improving.
After that a good spruce up, and hopefully find her a new home.

Only reason for purchase was to ensure survival, as it's a rare car in it's own right as well as a rare spec.

Interested parties feel free to let me know.

The estate has now been delivered to Ricky (ThamesTyres) for welding work and a few other bits.
Hopefully once done, a pre MOT will be carried out and then an actual test.

If the MOT is successful, once back home it will receive a general tidy up and Service.
(no new paint, just zinc primer etc) and it will then be looking for a new home.

It will then be the new owners choice as to whether or not they chose to fully repaint the car or have it matched in.

                            Mal.

What sort of price will you be considering when you sell? I'm looking for a Montego at present. I can respray it myself if I had it.
