Hi i today purchased a 1988 maestro vanden plas it looks pretty good rust wise and started straight away 59,000 on the clock and all seems to be working. Did not really pay much attention just had to save it from being broken. After spending a hour wondering around the scrapyard yard i amazed by the cars in there was like being back in the 80s see the attached pics

What a fabulous looking scrap yard - such a great selection of stuff that's disappeared from the roads!
The Maestro looks to be in good condition - far too good to end its days in there. I can see why it was sold on, it would have been a shame to break it.
On 'E' registration, you'd not get an 'Austin' badge on the left side of the boot lid.

Nicely saved David, look forward to seeing it back on the road. I haven't forgotten about the petrol cap, will sort it next time I'm at my parents.
