  • Nice to know the Maestro is now a classic, drive dads car.

Looks an excellent place this and includes a lovely low mileage Maestro Special in it's stable. I've had a few cars in their stable including a XJS V12 Convertible https://www.drivedadscar.com/collect...sic-collection

Odd that the background picture off the Austin badge looks like it’s off a Montego and that’s definitely not the right steering wheel for a special

Well spotted and I'm surprised not one other person has commented on it

I think that the black and white 'detail' images they have used were taken from a brochure or handbook (maybe even lifted off the internet?) rather than photos of parts of the actual car.

          I don't know why but , I would sooner drive a 1100 allegro or a marina 1300L.
          Than a Bentley , what's a allegro "sport".

Not too sure , but I remember in the 1980`s BL made a 3 door allegro equipe ? with nice alloys and bright orange flash down both sides of the car ( and orange striped seats? )

There was an Allegro Sport think it replaced or was also known as the short lived SS model. 1750 Twin carb. However, the car shown is a much later Series 3 and by then all sporty intensions had gone from the range. I mean how could you top the later series 2 Equipe!

My mate Ian Parker knows all about Allegros so I should really have asked him, but from the looks of it you also do lol

Allegro Sport was the cheaper (less expensive?) 1750 model at launch. The SS was the dearer version. I remember when I started selling cars in '74 there was a white 1750 Sport that had been in stock for ages. It had Spanish Rose (pinky red) trim... probably explains it. The 1750 Equipe from '79 although most were registered in '80... or 81! was a run out model to use up the 2 door bodies that didn't figure in the 3 range. As dealers, the only way to shift them seemed to be to remove the stripes and replace it with a black vinyl roof. And now the few existing owners want the stripes back!
