Well it's been a year since this car was moved to Mal's barn and it hasn't moved an inch since.
So this year it will be coming back to my barn eventually so I can continue with it as it doesn't now look as though it will be done by the paint shop who offered so spray it for me.
Shame really but there you go.1958 Ford Consul Convertible. I love this car

Excellent said car is finally getting the restoration she has long deserved. The wiper mechanism might need adjusting. I remember driving down form Thurso one January in a Snow storm over Drumochtor Pass. My right hand out of the drivers window with my fingers on the edge of the windscreen. The drivers wiper kept sliding of the screen,! and then not returning!. So by the time i got down to lower levels and the snow had stopped, my hand and fingers were literally purple blue!. That was a memorable journey. Funnly enough wipers worked fine in the rain on lower levels!Morris Marina 1.3sdl 78

While I was at Mal's barn on Saturday I started the car up.
After a few attempts it fired up so this will be my main aim next year to spend more time on it.
It's now confirmed as coming back to my barn in either late January or early February.

I have accumulated more parts for the car and restarted work on it but lining up the nearside front wing I found a major problem.
The sill sits too high by about 6mm so the wing doesn't line up. I checked the original wing and that's been bodged to fit
I did wonder why the door had to be soo high.
The sill will have to either be removed and re-done or possibly cut at the front and lowered then re-welded on.
Bummer that as I was going to continue with this.
The project will now stall until after I learn to teach myself to weld.Last edited by Jeff Turbo; 27th May 2015, 07:37.1958 Ford Consul Convertible. I love this car
