For Portugal was only officially imported one MG Montego Turbo by the official importer. This car was imported from Spain to the presentation of the model in Portugal.
Because of the high price of MG Montego Turbo due to the high tax charge, it has not sold any units.
The car that was imported was held by the official importer, who used it as a presentation car. The car was white and was lost track of him.
My MG Montego Turbo was purchased in 1987 in the UK by a Portuguese emigrant who was there to work.
As the emigrant planned to return to Portugal soon, he wanted a LHD car. As there was no LHD cars in UK for sale, the dealer imported a nearly new car from Sweden, getting UK registration plates.
In 1989 the emigrant returned to Portugal and brought the car with him, registering the car in Portugal with Portuguese registration plates.
Some time after the engine burned the head gasket causing more damage to the engine. The owner repaired the entire engine with new parts, but never was able to tune the engine up, getting the car stopped for 19 years, until now.
The problem was very simple to solve. The turbo air supply hoose is damaged, not allowing the passage of air to the turbocharger.
I think at this point my MG Montego Turbo is unique in Portugal.

        Kind regards
