  • Newbie looking to re-live MG Maestro

    Hi All,

Just joined, looking to get a classic Maestro MG will no doubt need you all !

First quick question is about any classic garages who could service her when needed in the South West (Exeter way ideally) any one in the area who you'd recommend for jobs I cant do? I have googled a few but recommendations I am sure are better from first hand experiences.

Last time I had a Maestro was in 1992!! I have had 2.

    Cheers, Martin

You need a nice garage with some old boys in it that remember the 'good old days'. There isn't really any specialist knowledge required for general servicing, it's pretty easy really.

Saying that I haven't had any problems with the Lucas ignition or fuel injection, I suspect issues with those might be trickier to diagnose without the 'Quick Test' diagnostic kit.

Have you found a car yet, what sort are you looking for?

I'd ideally like the early S Series or maybe 2.0 EFi MG/VDP models with the digi dash. Both my previous Maestros were laster 2.0i models and I also had a couple of Montego's.

There is one I am considering but just finding my way thru getting into old car ownership (aka plucking up the courage to go do it! ).
