  • midpoint of steering column

Hi everyone. The other day I had my steering column repaired and once it was assembled I forgot to measure the midpoint in the steering. that is, how much each arm protrudes from the column. Does anyone know how far each steering arm must be from the body of the steering column so that it stays in the middle?

Presuming that you only removed the column and didn't touch the rack or steering arms, the easiest way is to ensure that the front wheells are in the straight ahead position. Temporarily replace the column and rotate the steering wheel from one full lock to the other, counting the number of wheel rotations. Then return the steering wheel to the half way point. Refit the column correctly with the indicator switch striker at the top and refit the steering wheel. Check once more that you rotate the steering wheel the same number of turns from the centre point to each full lock.
