As for sills they rust from the inside out but they weren’t bad when I got the car and at that stage didn’t need any work
but I really hope you get your asking price as people used to laugh at me when I said they would be worth big money 4 years ago
I can’t change my username from 384 as I don’t own it anymore and I don’t come on the site much anymore as I’ve never met a bunch of car enthusiasts who undervalue there cars so much and who slag people off if they dare to suggest that maestro turbos are worth 12k upwards and I can assure you that when the black one I have that needed just offside rear arch replacing and drivers door replaced and that’s it will be offered for sale for pretty much the same as you are asking for yours but I won’t be selling it on the maestro forum
That debate has been raging every year for every car. The problem was the guy on Facebook advertised the car with one picture and scant info asking £15k. He didn't read the rest of message lower down when I said why 'no chance'. Then took it completely the wrong way and started having pop when other cars sold. One was reputedly mint with low mileage and history selling via a dealer, the other had been sold previously and the new buyer sold it on at a profit quickly but not near the original asking price and lowered it to get rid.
If the guy with the black turbo advertised it properly with much more info and pictures etc the debate wouldn't have started. Too many ask how much is it worth with no info at all so there you go.
If he sells it for what he wants then good luck to him, but with no info and one picture that won't happen

I couldn’t agree more as I saw the ad with 1 picture I thought give more information
but I wouldn’t ask anyone what my car is worth as you are opening yourself up to massively differing values
the ford lads have got it right as they don’t seem to rip each other to pieces over values as they realise that there cars are a asset and only a fool would knock the values of their assets
I hope the maestro fraternity starts to realise that maestros in any form are going up in value and I’ve got a very low mileage low owners mk1 escort that’s in amazing condition but I’ve also got a low owners full service history with all book packs and fully stamped up black maestro turbo that I’m currently restoring so it’s going to be a beauty when finishing
and in my opinion ive never driven any old ford that drives anywhere near as good as a maestro

Anyway back to this car. Without any pictures no one can see what it looks like. As said previously by me you should put it on car and classic with lots of good pictures and think of the write up you need to say about the car. Does seem worth £14k if immaculate but I don't think it will sell on here as the forum is too quiet these days. Best of luck selling it and hope it goes well.

Do you know what, had enough of this pseudo nit picking, all I am trying to do is sell a fully restored car, for what doesn't seem like a fortune, if you can't afford it then don't pick holes and make pathetic comparisons.
the reason it needed so much work was due to the poor quality of the supposed repairs by the previous owner. When my expert started digging, it was a mess, but not anymore.
I have had what seems like a genuine enquiry about the car, but if it doesn't sell, then I will be withdrawing it, after all, I am not selling it because it is falling apart, or that I need the money.
It will continue next year to be the star of many shows.

? I am trying to help to get your car out there as the forum isn't what it used to be, thats good to know you may have a buyer and hope it goes well. I'm sure once the prospective owner sees and drives it'll sell. They are going up in value, its a good price and glad that the forum worked on this occasion

Thanks Jeff, really appreciate your help.
I am not desperate to sell the car, which is why I initially put it on the club site, with details of contact if someone genuinely interested. If someone replied would gladly send them details and invite them along for a viewing. As I said, if the car doesn't sell then will leave it to my nephew.
I am just so disappointed with some of the remarks I have got about the car potential sale.
thanks again Jeff, you have given me amazing advice in the last 3 years and I am eternally grateful.
I mean no disrespect to any of our members but seriously suspect that Member Maestro384 is the previous owner of my car. If I am wrong, then sincerely apologise
I would like to know where he got such an immaculate example of a Turbo for

Next too nothing, would love to know it's model number and some pics.
although when I got this car, it looked amazing but in the 3 years I have owned it, discovered what a shoddy restoration was done previously, my body specialist could have filled a skip with the amount of pudding shoved into the car.
this has all been removed and a professional restoration now done.
even at £14 I will never get back what I have had to spend, but it does seem like all anyone wants to do is criticise
                  never mind

Filled a skip with pudding? Just a bit melodramatic don't you think , I remember the car being done 3 years ago a possible fine skim yes but, pudding?? na don't think so.. For someone wanting to or not wanting to sell their car you don't half go on, zzz zzz oh and maestro 384 has just bought a black turbo for £3250 and it's in good condition I have seen that as well. So. sell the 384 or not but please stop going on about how rubbish in your opinion the restoration was, as without any pictures of how it looks now means nothing. I'm sure it's just wonderful and I really hope you sell it soon and move on...

Right people form your own opinion I bought 384 after it had been stood outside for 15 years and as you can see this is all the holes I found
I also replaced the rear arches with genuine rover replacement panels with the rover hologram still on them and fitted a ultra rare full rear panel
zoom into the photos and see before and after I replaced the panel and look for filler and as you can see there isn’t any
I put 2 brand new wings on the car and 4 used rust free doors on then it went to the paint shop we’re the car was finished
the gentleman bought the car off of me and drove it 200 miles home in the rain then about a month later made contact with me moaning about the carb playing up and that he was going to break the car for parts
so that’s the type of person who is now complain about a car that he won’t put photos of on the site
