      Hi all.

I went and saw Mike and the MG EFI. I totaly forgot to take pics of her! But i can confirm that she is VERY solid and with some tlc and a paint job it will be a a tidy car.

Also when there, one of Mikes friends has a lockup and has several cars there, Mike asked if i wanted to see a Maestro, in the lockup was a immaculate Flame Red MG Maestro EFI on a J plate. Also was a BRG MG Metro that had just been restored. There was a 200 Coupe and an MG ZR and other BL Cars.

Wish i had taken the Estate or the 416 to keep in theme.

That's a bit of a silly generalisation! How much? £25 or £250. Sounds like you are also implying that Maestro's are?
I have watched several Montys over the last 18 months fetch surprising money, especially the Turbos (which are now probably as rare as the Maestro version.

Dales Turbo reached over £1600 on ebay. And this is in a economic downturn!
Apart from 'rot' both Monty and Maestro are incredibly simple cars to keep going. One day, not far off, the values will rise much faster. They started to climb about a year ago when a few magazines started enquiring, but eased back. Values will go up again - mags are always looking for new classics to feature. It's like the daft prices some parts fetch now, and traders are quick to spot these - I got a new power steering rack from an autojumbler five years ago at Stoneleigh - it went a bit like this:
'yeah, for a Montego, oh nobody wants them - give me 20 quid mate.'
        I'll give you a tenner?'
        'Meet you halfway, 15 quid'.
So, 15 quid I got it.

Today that jumbler wouldn't sell it for less than £80 as he's wiser!!

Stephen beat me there, but £1121 to you (still whats £21 between friends! :laugh

Still with the market being down, had my car reached £1600,i would have been happy knowing that on a good day(market up!) ,it may have fetched an easy £2k!!

It wasnt to be,and as you probably have a rarer car than mine, its no turbo, which means its not top of the range model,so sadly you wont get £four figures.

I hope you do,and then it gives us all hope for ours

But IMHO,they will never fetch "strong money"

I would really like the car but I can see the respray costs making the purchace unviable for me as I recon that will be around £2000 if done to a high spec.

No idea oli the ball park figure depends onhow much someone would want to pay.All the expensive stuff like sills inner our rear wheel arches rear and front brake pipes front brake pads rear shoes have been donee.Drivers door skin waiting to gon on then mot time oil change then ready to go.All off the above hads allready been paid for.Just in a Q at the mo.I will email said pics to stephen and hopefully he will put them up for u.Remember the pics dont do her justce .Has been sitting outside for wee while. But is siolid under all the grot.

Sorry Dale - dunno why I said 1600? Worth it is probably why!

Ayreshirelad - sorry I didn't mean your car is not worth much. In fact, you are right it is worth a fair bit.
                          And don't you others laugh

I was in the Imp Club (still am) and many years ago it was similar to MMs.
Hillman Imps didn't fetch much, rusted away. Usual story, scrapped or give away.
THEN... it all changed. Loads still about (most kept off road) but prices have rocketed. Who would have thought it? Some of us did but the majority just saw it, like on here, we love em, but nobody else does. HOW THINGS CAN CHANGE! A vibrant club, real enthusiasts, and then enventually it happens. Classic status as the mags look for something different to the Morris Minor and MGB on every front cover.

£2-3 grand is now not unusual for a very good but 'not' concours Imp.
Spares built up so not a lot of problems to keep them going.

AND just to show how it can get even better... (auction at Goodwood this July)

''A little later in the sale, The ex-works, Rosemary Smith, Roy Fidler and Andrew Cowan 1967 Sunbeam Rallye Imp set a new world record auction price for the model, with £19,550.''

So Ayreshirelad, I WOULD HANG ON TO IT!!!
