  • Montego Advantage

I have been looking at the pics I took at BL day of a Metro Advantage. I realised I have seen the Maestro advantage but don't ever recall seeing a Montego Advantage. Does anyone on here own one or have any pics of one?

Had a G reg BREG one when it was a year old -saw lots about
All Advantages were in one engine spec only 1.3Metro /1.6Maestro and 2.0 litre for Monty - and a very short run model and only 3 colours and were only G/H reg - although i iirc i did see a J reg
      Black
      British Racing Green
      Pearlecent Cherry Red
      I think Black was rarest
Curiously i saw a battered Toyota Corlla estate with exact Advantage door decals

No, I eventually scrapped it.............in 2006. Dales old brg Advantage was sold to Gothbobs friend and then on to a guy who completed the Staples to Naples in 2007 I think. After that I think that got scrapped but i'm not sure. Ive been on the lookout for another and in 4 years i've seen....................1

According to the MGM group website there were only 1400 made . If this is correct they are very very rare!

If I remember rightly, the Advantages sold in mainland Europe were done duotone and had a grey lower half.

                    Hi
Figures are apparentley for uk cars.

                    Metro 1800
                    Maestro 1000
                    Montego 1400

Unfortunately it doesn't break down the figures for colours.

The styling and colours were beautiful, but certainly with the Maestro, behind the cosmetic glamour lay a pretty basic package. I'm not even sure if it had a clock.

Dunno how true it is, but I always felt the Advantage range came about because Rover had found themselves with a glut of MG bodyshells and exterior trim that was laying unused because the new (89-) restyled MGs weren't selling as well as expected. Same with the limited edition Metro Mosaic: colour-coded MG-style body with a 998cc engine but which didn't even have a glovebox lid or a back shelf.
                        Regards

Notice! Decal not on offside door, no alloys, two-tone paint in different colour to UK spec, no front spoiler, no radio, black door mirror covers........ AND it's a diesel

That makes a change. Seems the overseas market often got better equipment than we did.
