  • Inherited a Maestro

Can anyone help, or offer advice. we have just inherited the father in laws, Metalic Red, Maestro, 1.6 HLS, he had owed it from new, 45,000mile only, alway garaged, not imaculate, new sills fitted about 4 yrs ago, but still a little rusty, but 100% all original, no mot at present, sorned, i'm sure she will start, but i need to sort a battery 1st.

I do not want to scrap her, any suggestions???? it seems such a shame to waste such a straight car.

Tha car is in Halesowen, West Midlands.

    Cheers. Alan

    Hi Alan,

You need to get a few pictures on, as that always generates interest.

Also, if you are willing to take it for an MOT, if it passes you'll get a guaranteed sale if it doesn't pass at least you'll have the fail sheet so a prospective buyer can see what needs to be done.

The other big advantage with getting an MOT on it will be that someone could drive it away with minimal fuss, wheras with no MOT they would end up having to pay for a trailer.

Cheers Chaps for all your advise, if anyone does want to take a look? give me a call on 07979 518036, it's Alan. Other than that, i'll take your advise, and get her MOT'd and take it from there, either way, once i can get her out of the garage, and take some photo's. Cheers, Alan

                Alan,

Going on what you've said - i.e one owner from new, garaged and recent new sills - it sounds like it could have a real chance of going back on the road.

there is no such thing as a rust free Maestro - so don't worry about that.

I'm pleased your seriously considering an MOT - hopefully it will sail through. from personal experience the biggest MOT fail area on bodywork is rust on the sills - which you sound like you might avoid!

Good luck with the test Alan.

By the way Mal, have you been able to get down for a look at that Montego?

                              Not yet Sam,.....

Between coughingmy guts up and work, I hav'nt had time to do anything thats beyond the realms of the "homestead".

If you still want me to follow it up, I will, as soon as I have a few hours.
