Well that was a turn up.
As many may know this car was restored by Michael who then sold it on to Chris in Scotland who sold it to a dealer there.
A guy rang me a couple of weeks ago with an issue to his new purchase, this French MG Montego Turbo. He bought it for a reduced price and had it shipped to his house about 30 minutes from my house in Gainsborough.
The cam end rod had moved and the MG Rover trained' mechanic' working on it told him it needed a new camshaft, ha ha. So I told him how to reset it and that fixed the issue until Saturday when the same issue returned so the new owner asked me to have a look at it for him as he thinks the trained mechanic didn't know what he was doing>
Had a look at the car this morning as I was in that area and the 'mechanic' had smashed the distributor plate and greased it back on so after 18 miles a lot of the grease had sprayed over the inside of the cap. No idea why you would do that.
After cleaning all and adding a bit of oil in the dashpot the car started on the button and after a spirited drive ran perfectly and on boost. I have found him a new distributor plate on MGLR with a part number ADU7755 if anyone needs one.
Will be fitting that soon I expect when it arrives at his house, and there's me thinking I had seen the last of itLast edited by Jeff Turbo; 19th March 2025, 14:35.1958 Ford Consul Convertible. I love this car
