Your dash looks good. They are prone to warping in the middle you see, so you need to protect yours from direct sunlight e.g. when you park your car outside otherwise it may get damaged...I cover mine with newspaper when I leave my car outside in very hot weather(!)

I am aware of their warping capabilities.

My dashboard has a couple of cracks in it, is there a way to stop them growing in size, or does the same still apply - keep it out of sunlight?

Is it worth investing in one of those reflective blinds that cover the windscreen?

For those of you who haven't seen this before, this is the result of a misted up windscreen, and a deviation from the racetrack...

Yes, the good old EdamSpeed Flying Babybel (as it's affectionately known) is indeed several feet off the ground

              Richard,

Re the damage caused by the 8 year old scumbag who cycled into my Monty, I can just make out the crease on the bonnet but no one else viewing the pic would spot it.

This is *definitely* the car's good side, I'll post a pic of the other side at work tomorrow (my [D:] is playing up at home). The lighting is wrong (pics taken at sunset, quite artistic I thought) but I'll show you all the horror of my Monty's offside!

Re the cracking dashboards, I think it's fair to say that "they all do that sir!". Some colours seem to survive better than others - the (blue) dash in my Monty is cracked worse than that (brown) in my VDP though the cars are more-or-less the same age. There are professional people who can attend to fix split dashboards and seats burnt by cigarettes, though, which is an option if you've got some spare cash. One can buy the raw materials they use (certain type of Plastic Filler, 'textured' paint to match the original finish, and special paint to cover the dash repair) at places like Frosts' of Rochdale (Classic Car Workshop and DIY Equipment specialists, they offer mail order too, if you are feeling brave and have the time and patience.

Try covering the dash with a dark beach towel when it is sunny to prevent further deterioration. A light towel will reflect in the windscreen if you drive with the towel covering the dash.
