  • Hello from NZ

    Hi all,
Obligatory hello post, new to Maestro Turbo ownership but not MGs.
I now own the only Maestro Turbo in NZ, purchased from the second owner (who also sold me my first car nearly 30 years ago - an MG Metro 1300).

Maestro is not currently going but working on that.

    Cheers
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew
Never knew there was a maestro turbo in new Zealand. Been a few montego turbos and a few other types on Montegos over there.
What's the problem with it not running ?

Welcome to the club! I have one of the New Zealand MG Montego Turbos imported into the U.K. a few years ago. Has the car lived its whole life in NZ?

The Maestro Turbo was bought new in the UK, the driven around Europe for 3 months before shipping to NZ. It arrived at just on a year old so avoided new car duties.

It's not been used for a few years, so the usual issues with cars that have sat - fuel pump is dead, but otherwise turns over and has spark. Brakes are more or less non-existent.

After market fuel pumps are available. A Rover V8 uses the same fuel pump but is sometimes wired back to front which an easy modification. Have you tested the pump?
