As I keep being asked how do I do the headlining in a montego I thought I would post up a 'how to'

Part 1 removal from the car
I start from the nearside front
Pull back the passenger sunvisor and remove the 2 screws
Using a small allen key push down from the top the unclip the cover
Remove the screw completely and pull sideways
Using a trim removal tool pull out the centre stay clip. If you have a small slot in this clip twist 45 degrees and remove as it has an L shape

      From the passenger side front
Using a small flat screwdriver remove the covers from the grab handle
Remove 4 screws and make a note that the outer screws are self tappers
Remove the interior lamp being careful not to break it
Make a note of the wiring positions

To remove the rear grab handle repeat the process for the front
Remove the rear trim from the rear window
Remove the drivers rear grab handle as before
Remove the drivers interior lamp as before
Remove the stud from the drivers front, this replaces the grab handle
The drivers side stud, this can be a cause of frustration later when putting the headlining back up but I have an easy way of locating the square hole

Remove the drivers sunvisor, clips etc as before
          Open the sunroof
Remove the (in this case) electric switch cover
From the front pull down the main switch housing
Unclip the connections and remove the switch
From the rear seat, remove both clips that hold the centre of the headlining

The front seats should now be levered back and the seat backs lowered to their lowest position
Put the car into reverse gear
Pull off the sunroof surround and pick off the material from it

From the passenger side pull gently from the top of the B post and top of the A post
              Gently lower the headlining biscuit
Push the rear of the biscuit up over the rear seat so the front of the biscuit goes under the steering wheel.
Gently manouver the biscuit forward and out of the passenger front door

It's easier to remove the biscuit from the car if you remove the passenger seat but it can be done without as you can see.
As you have removed the biscuit you may want to clean all the sunroof drain tubes and if needed clean the roof as it's exposed.
                Clean round the sunroof surround

If you're not sure where it all goes put it in the boot like this
Part 2 will be cleaning the biscuit and repairing any damage like this

All of the old headlining material from the top and bottom has to be removed
All I use is a household scrapper, water and an old towel
First remove all of the old material

                      All has to be removed

Now clean and ready for repair
                          Damage also here
Cover whatever you are going to use as the base
The broken side is matched to see if all is there
You will need two of these

                            You will also need
Scissors, cheap superglue and either a knife or blades
Glue any broken piece back to the biscuit and on any other damage that is needed.
After drying if any part needs to be strengthened, cut a small piece of material from the new lining you have a little smaller than any damage.
Spray a short burst of glue on the back of the biscuit and on the material and leave to dry
Damage like this will not matter and the lining material will cover it

If your hands haven't got glue on them you will need something like either of these to glue the material as this bit gets messy.
The 3rd part is putting the new material on.
