  • MG Turbo Head Gasket Wanted.

Still having quite a few teething problems with 505 after tuning. Engines out atm as engine mount cracked just as it was going in to get the gaz coilovers fitted! New the old suspension set up was to low and hard! Anyway he wants to take the head back off for various reasons but cant find a gasket. Tried motobuild and a few other sources. Does anyone know where they are available please? Thanks Andy

Done a bit of Google'ing. Rimmer Bros have a round hole one in. Cant find any oval hole ones. Is there anyway of knowing which gasket mine will have without lifting the head? It was made in November 89 number 500 if that helps.

Lee Bow had quite a few oval headgaskets, you'll also need a turbo manifold gasket

Lee Bow is a guy from the Gloucester area. Most MG Maestro Turbos had oval oil ways but some did had round holes. You can't put on one the other as the oil ways won't match. If you want one I will get in touch with him, he also had manifold gaskets and Rimmers don't sell those. What were the running problems on your Turbo?

Thnaks Jeff, thats great news if the one I have ordered is the wrong one. I have just texted the mechanic to ask him to removed the head as soon as he can to check which type I have. I would like to get it to the Ripon show so every day counts. I will get back to you if I need one. The running problems are me. I should have left it alone. Chasing power. Its spitting coolant out somewhere, thinks the head is lifting. Plus its running like a bag of spanners. Had it set up last year at Bog Brothers, renowned tuning specialist at Malton. Made 167bhp@ wheels so just over 200 at fly at standard boost. was running like a dream but I wanted it running at more than standard boost considering what I have done/spent on it and its caused problems since. I will make a thread of whats done when its sorted ha but the below thread is whats been fitted. Plus a electronic boost controller now. Its going to have to go back to Bog Brothers when a few more problems are ironed out. Hopefully before Ripon. Last time I took it up I couldn't get it set up because it was that low and the sumps been beefed up so was bottoming out. Gaz coilovers have arrived so can get it to a more sensible height now. Was doing a site search about ARP head bolts. I read few things on the T16 ones fitting with spacers. Do you have anymore information on this please? Thnaks Andrew.
