  • Maestro 1600 s series timing belt tensioner pulley

Hi can anybody confirm if the original timing belt tensioner pulley will be fine when changing the timing belt or is it best to renew the pulley I will be fitting a new water pump and belt just wandering if a new pulley is needed or leave the original

Hard to tell until you have the belt off and can check the tensioner by spinning it/testing for play. On the plus side if you find you do need a tensioner it is just a half hour job to fit it later (less if you've done it before). The s series won't be damaged by broken belt, so not as critical as on other cars, annoying if belt snaps, but can be fixed on the roadside.
