Hi can anybody confirm if the original timing belt tensioner pulley will be fine when changing the timing belt or is it best to renew the pulley I will be fitting a new water pump and belt just wandering if a new pulley is needed or leave the original

Hard to tell until you have the belt off and can check the tensioner by spinning it/testing for play. On the plus side if you find you do need a tensioner it is just a half hour job to fit it later (less if you've done it before). The s series won't be damaged by broken belt, so not as critical as on other cars, annoying if belt snaps, but can be fixed on the roadside.
