  • Quest for a cam shaft driven pump alignment tool. Part Number PD.207

    Ahoy there.

I'm a new Perkins M80T owner, who has undertaken a rebuild of the Perkins Prima 500 series engine in our sailboat. Over hear in Canada the raw water pump alignment tool, Perkins part number PD.207 is not available anymore. Many of us poor sailors have been battling raw water cooling pump problems as we are unable to properly align the pumps which then pre maturely fail after a few seasons, time and time again.

If anyone across the pond has one of these alignment tools kicking about I would LOVE to get my hands on it. Even rent it if I had to. Please let me know what you chaps have been doing to get around this discontinued, but critical tool.

    Cheers!

The automotive/industrial engines don't use that tool, it is only needed on the marine versions. Any decent machine shop should be able to make one though, the tool is just a piece of bar machined to fit inside the pump adaptor plate and over the camshaft. The Volvo MD22 series are the same engine, it might be possible to find the Volvo version of the tool, but might be more expensive than getting one made.
