Saw this today at rimmers, russ swifts old car and only round the corner from me. Must get mine finished.
This also won best on MG for pride of ownership. They like Montegos and Maestros round here

Wash before tomorrow's mot. Hopeful of a pass, then insurance and car tax. So hopefully will be taking this to Essex next week. Ed, I might be delivering Wednesday in your old Montego to you.

Still things to do at a later date, sort the sill paint, minor arch rust and interior clean. Radio works great

Now done a few miles and a few things need to be sorted.
Oil leak on the cam seal, thermostat is sticky, drivers side seat back is stuck, small blow on the exhaust, courtesy lights are wired wrong
Also the car is booked in to sort the bubbling on the rear arch and sill paint while I'm touring France in my V8

Thermostat bolts were going to snap so will sort that later.
Oil leak done, seat back now moves, exhaust sorted, courtesy lights not working properly so will have another look at that when I get time, has power going to them but not from the door pins.
Gave it a little polish as it needed it and it came up lovely.
I'm not entirely happy with the existing headlining as the biscuit is warped so may re-cover that later in the year.

The joys of driving a car not used for a number of years. 2 more oil leaks have appeared, sump gasket and sump breather gasket.

New sump gasket delivered today, thanks Adrian
Yet another oil leak found at the rear of the headgasket so will be sorting that at the same time.
The car has left quite a few little oil patches now so I won't be moving it until I've fixed every leak.
Allways the same when a car doesn't get used much, I should know after owning montegos for years but never knew a 1.6 could leak everywhere
So I'm now changing the sump gasket, breather gasket, headgasket, cam gaskets, manifold gasket. Hopefully that will cure it, shame as the car is very smooth to drive

Finally made a start on all the oil leaks this afternoon
Sump removed, breather removed again. All cleaned and re-sealed
Head gasket next as the rear seal of the cam carrier is also leaking so I may as well do the lot
