Normally when this topic comes up, it's the case that the things proposed for remanufacture have high set up and unit costs and not enough people either 1) want or need that part, or 2) willing to pay such a high price.

What kind of stuff is NLA that there's a big call for?

To name a couple, many panels, ARB droplinks (although MAPS re-manufacture these with marine grade steel, many moan about the prices as Rich says).

Problem is proper panel remanufacture has HUGE set-up costs. 10's of thousands for the press dies needed which is beyond the clubs funds.

GRP panels on the other hand may be of interest and is something I had considered.

Re: Panels. Buy where you can and stock up on used originals where space and cash allows!

What is deemed scrap and rotten now will one day have to be repaired, no doubt.

Used but good Allegro front panels can go for £400 and upwards. Driver's front wings are serious business, likewise.

Things aren't that bad yet for Maestro and Montego owners, but it is worth keeping in mind. Also, the number of cheap cars to strip for spares will only keep on decreasing...

Vac pipes and connectors are hardly specific to our cars, these can be sourced from several places and trimmed down to size, made to fit etc

Iam not to know what is shared on our monty/maestro cars with other models or makes.
Then it would be good to have a list of alternatives and sourced avalable for our parts that are NLA
The list could be added to if and when people find a suppler

The anti-roll bar links that MAPS manufactured are available through the MG 'M' Group, along with a small range of other items. We did fuel filler pockets in GRP and carbon fibre for a while.

On this forum there was bit of whinging about the prices but I always sold out of these items quickly, mainly to members of the MG 'M' Group. There is demand and some people will pay the going rate. Others are unrealistic and compare the price of a newly manufactured part with what they used to pay ten years ago from the scrapyard.

Another idea would be to have a list of parts that are nla and people can put their name to needing that part. Then the club and potential manufacturers can look at the feasibility of production.

Everything you need to repair a Maestro/Montego vacuum system can be bought from Halfords off the shelf. They sell pretty much all the components in the little blister style packs that hang in the 'odds and sods' section normally on a back wall in the shop by the parts counter.

I've repaired a couple of systems with stuff from Halfords. Just take along your broken and perished remains and see what you can fit together from what's in the little packs. Rubber hoses, t-piece connectors, bits to go on the brass stub on the carburettor...it's all there.

That is just the thing to be on a list .Good news !! TBH i dont go to Halfrauds much as there not as cheap as they used to be and not as close as my parts dealer.
