Welcome to the Maestro and Montego Owners Club. Why not post in the Welcome & Feedback forum and introduce yourself?
Diversity is good and should be celebrated.
I'm all for seeing different cars in varying states of repair, that is providing all are standard spec.
Modded examples with wrong wheels etc should not be shown, we are afterall a preservation group that in the long term should be encouraging owners to preserve their vehicles for future generations to study for reference.
It would be misleading to have a non-standard car on a calendar etc.
My name is Darren.
Home of a Maestro for 30 years. 1983(Y)Maestro 1.3 HLE (Nellie) Very poorly
1995 Rover 214SI 2004 MG ZS 120 2006 LandRover 90 TD5 2014 Volvo V40 T3 R-Design.
I understand your point on 'modded' cars, but surely in some ways, a lot of the maestro's and montego's surviving today may not have been so lucky if the owner had not seen the 'potential' of a modded monty/maestro, wether it be different alloys or a W+P kit.
If when you say 'Modded' you mean something like those idiots on 'pimp my shed' then I agree.
But, if you include all things that detract from originality (alloys/styling options etc), then that "in my opinion" is elitest, and has no place in a club who's main claim is to ensure the survival of these cars, and to provide a place for like minded owners to gather and discuss/exchange idea's on there favororite car.
I could sit here all day and list cars that have survived due to there owners seeing the potential for modification to there own taste, but I wont.
Lets not forget the "monstro" project, and how proud its 'builder' would have been to see it publicised in a club mag or calender.
My final point on this is that a 'Modified' car has already been included in the 2005 calender, (B466BMF) which surely never left the factory with a rag-top.
( As stated this is my personal opinion, and is not aimed to detract from any one elses)

Well I think it's a great photo - But yes, I think it would be better if the Mercedes and the plant in front of the headlamp were removed. Nice one Simon.
