Thanks guys. I cant take all the credit though. The team came to help for a week at the fabrication stage and my boss who also rallies helped with the tank and wiring. It wouldnt be near this stage without his help. Wiring isnt my thing but the rest I have done myself. Im only 23 so plenty time to brush up on my wiring skills.

Its been just over a year Ive been working on this but I only have weekends as I work away from home

I think the speedo is just excited to get out for the first rally! But seriously it must just be the way its calibrated and sits at 80 with no power. We powered it all up and it goes through an on the shelf demonstration up the revs, flashing shift light etc so all works fine. I thought it was strange too.

I'll get pictures of the engine bay

Ross, you're a bad man keeping us in suspense so long as to the powerplant!

                    I reckon it's a Honda VTEC...

i hear you can buy conversion plate for PG1 gearbox for (Audi VW) 1.8 turbo engine heard there good for around 300bhp with very small mods, that would be great power plant

That would put me in a class mostly filled with 4wd scoobys and evos.

                        Pictures uploading as we speak

                            Excellent decision!

As it happens, it is also appropriate given Honda's links with Austin Rover in the past. What a pity they didn't continue them -they're only one of the world's most respected car manufacturers...

                            Is it a 1.6?

No its 2.0L. And I agree, it kind of carries on from Honda connections with rover which is nice.

Biggest attraction was a reliable 200hp standard but I'll be running around 240. Geared to do around 120mph with 6 gears so should be interesting to say the least.

Wow that's stunning, some craftsmanship. I wouldn't want to race something that perfect lol.
