All that hard work, broken back, numb fingers and half a ton of elbow grease, then you go and refit that lousy rusty expansion tank cap lol

In no hurry for that John
Well everything WAS running smoothly but this morning was ONE of those days.
Pushed off the 2 clips that hold the plastic driveshaft protecter plate and one went between the gearbox mounting and crossmember. Despite 20 minutes of looking I never saw it again. What joy.
No problem filling the gearbox with oil.
Connected the battery and the immobiliser kicked in, fob wouldn't turn it off so I thought i'd reset it.
Closed the doors and bonnet, still wouldn't turn off so tried to open the bonnet and the cable snapped. Deep joy now.
Looking at the bonnet lock mechanism I dropped my torch between the radiator and intercooler, took me 10 minutes to get that out. More joy.
Finally managed to open the bonnet with a bit of help, ta Mal and Andy for the tips and lucky that the grill wasn't on.
Finally sorted the immobiliser by putting a new battery in the fob so the car now turns over.
Nearly started but wouldn't start. Plenty of spark but not enough petrol in the tank. When I started this in October there was nearly a quarter of a tank in it, now the gauge reads nothing and low fuel light is on. Oh the joys of today.
Having lunch and a cup of tea at the moment hoping for a better afternoon.

        Well the 'luck' continued.
Filled up 2 petrol cans £14....£14 for, 2 gallons of petrol, great.
Put the petrol in and ......................nothing.
The float must be stuck on my carb as there is petrol getting in but none getting to the bores so I took the carb off...............again.
I stepped back and trod on my grill..............breaking it.
After a few swear words I called it a day as nothing has been going right.
Took off my overalls and got to my boots, undid them and one of the laces snapped............... wonderful
Then got in my MGZSD, going up the road and a bus threw a stone..............right in the middle of my windscreen, so I now need a new windscreen........well i'd had enough of the day by then.
I've now had a few pints of cider to cheer myself up as i've never had a day like this where absolutely nothing goes right as today i've only managed to put oil in the gearbox and that took ALLDAY.

The 'journey' is complete, it's alive and goes like stink again. All I have to do now is wash my grubby prints off it. Then put on 2 new rear badges. Turbo and MG when I pick it up from Mal in January.

Looks a bit lofty; I take it that's the new suspension yet to settle or maybe the road is at a funny angle.
I can't help but look at total minters like that and ask myself "just why did they not sell by the lorryload".

Can hasn't moved a mile yet since I put the new springs on so i'm hoping they will settle down. I don't much like the height of it at the mo but I will live with it till the summer then re-access it.
They did sit up a bit when they came out and i've yet to check the measurements of the front springs as per the post I put up earlier, the rears are fine.

Not been on here for a while......been pre-occupied with other stuff and Jum is hibernating till the global warming starts again!!!?
Jeff, I have to say you have done a fantastic job there. Didn't realise you were carrying out a near full restoration!!! Looks fantastic!! Our cars will be a good representation of the marque...yours the epitomy of originality, mine the victim of subtle modification...and open for critisism from the purists
Must say, the suspension does look a touch high, but it does look similar to one of the press release photo's in 'What Car' I think, so I bet the torque steer will be original too!!
Need to do my headgasket at some stage as it weeps oil all over my lovely silver gearbox. I even keep a rag behind the battery to mop up the oil after each run out. I have a few turbo gasket sets, but hope I've got the right one as I think mine has the in-line oil seal.
Anyhow, well done and look forward to seeing you and the regulars at the next show. Hope you all had a good Christmas and have an even better new year!!....Cheers!!!
