  • Head gasket help needed

Good afternoon I have a 1990 2.0 EFI I need to change the head gasket original part no LVB 10023 I’m struggling to find one, all of the ones available have an oval hole (not a round one) on the oil feed hole at the bottom nearest the distributor. Would anyone know where I can get an original one or will one with the oval hole make any difference ie to oil leaking thanks in adavance Andy

Not sure if oil leak was more to do with the oval hole in the gasket, or the oil having to go around two corners. Jeff will probably know the answer to that one. I might have a round hole gasket set, will have a look tomorrow.

https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-LVB702595EVA that is for a turbo bit will fit and is a better gasket, I don't think your part number is complete BTW
For your info an oval hole gasket will fit a round hole but not the other way round.
What's the issue with your existing head gasket, is it an oil leak or has it gone?

Hi Jeff the cambelt snapped on start up due to a stone getting in between crank pulley and belt had to remove head to check for damage thankfully none of the valves were damaged, even though existing gasket in good condition not to happy about refilling a used one

Lucky boy. Before you put the head back on I would check all the valves are not bent, clean them up if not and also change the stem seals. Rimmers also sell those, do you also want a link for those? Yours should be the upgraded ones that are all in one. Edit Rimmers don't have any but the part number is UAM7497 if you can search. These have three https://www.allcarpartsfast.co.uk/mg...il-valve-stem/

Head bolts are all reusable as they're not stretch bolts. I do have a set somewhere if you're stuck but they are reusable
