That's not early, I was on my way to London this morning at 2.30am.
The cable might have disconnected and you should find it at the side of the dash or A post if you search there. If you need replacement door pillar switches I have two for sale ATM.

      I couldn't resist........
Firstly, I've noted this in the past - a loose wire (orange) in the fuse box, hanging separate from main bundle. Not really enough reach to hang a short distance down the A pillar.
Looking at the wires from door to A pillar, I noted a black wire in the bundle but not hanging. Behind the main bundle a pair of wires coming from the engine bay, one of them black.

      I need your advice again

It's none of those. It should be around the A post somewhere though

I think I found it, removing the cable surround where it joins the door. A black cable joined to a black and white cable, just separate toward the end.......but no metal connector piece.
                Take a look......

                I'm enjoying my learning curve!!

From memory it's the other side of the A post and doesn't run into the door. You'll need to pull back the door rubber and grey plastic trim inside the cabin

"From memory it's the other side of the A post and doesn't run into the door." - That makes more sense. Silly me.

Another search for the cable, my hand deep behind, to right of fuses. This time, I'm sure I've found the right one. Photo below....

I thought how the hell do I get this down the A pillar? Then between right of dash and A pillar I could just see the other cables. I managed to squeeze the black cable into the hole, my hand again deep in the fuse box area.

I looked again at the passenger side "button" in the pillar. The cable here is purple and white, not black. I know you told me to look for a black cable but just double checking, learning.

And, oh, whilst there I managed to return the fuse "box" cover to a more factory fit

That wire looks the correct one though it does look to have broken away from the door button, John may have thought it's black due to the black covering. It can't be a black wire as that's an earth and the door buttons are a live wire

As Jeff says it is the purple and white wire, but it should have a black sleeve to protect it where it goes into the door pillar next to the top hinge. If you take the sponge out of the top hinge hole, it shouldn't be too hard to get the wire to head in the right direction. I can take a photo of mine tomorrow, it might be easire if you can see where it is supposed to go..

I think you should be able to see the wire in the black sleeving going into the pillar behind the top hinge, I didn't pull the sponge out of the hole as it seems to be glued to some aftermarket sound proofing, as long as you keep the wire to the door side of the pillar it should go past the bunch of wires going into the door & end up somewhere near the switch hole. It sounds very easy sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of tea, I'll let you do the 'how easy is it in real life' research though
