Courtesy lights

Hello there.....
You'll note that my loose cable, with black sleeve has an "L" shape connector stuck in the end. So does the "button" in the A pillar. I took the "L" shape connector out of the loose cable , so it matched the passenger side.
I got the cable past the other bundle of cables where they go to the door. By good fortune it went down the A pillar , not into the door. I could seen the end of it at the hole where I had removed the "button". Managed to pull it through with some pliers. A bit of sand paper to clean it and then connected.

Still, my courtesy lights only have the "permanently on" function.

From what you said earlier, I guess the issue is at the unit which controls the "delay". This is the big box, upper right of fuses? Why so large? What else does it control?

The delay unit should be top left of the fuseboard, it doubles up as the lights on alarm. The right hand one is the heated rear window timer. Now that the door switches are connected there isn't much else to suspect, fuse 12 feeds the delay unit, but also feeds the lights themselves iirc. It is possible that the delay unit is loose or removed, so could be an easy fix..

Interesting, lights on alarm. I wasn't even aware it had one. When exactly does it sound? Ignition off, door open, lights still on?

Turn your lights on, turn off ignition and open the driver's door. If fitted or working a high pitched buzzer should sound

It certainly looks that way, mine is just above the fuse removal tool holder, it is black, about the same size as flasher unit and labelled 'Pektron lights on warning', EEP 0171 is the part number on the unit, I might have a spare one somewhere. Mine doesn't have a delay on it tho', the combined alarm and delay was only for the more upmarket models, according to the parts list the delay/lights on warning is part number EEP170 , warning only is EEP 171. Pektron seem to have added a zero in front of the three digit number that rover used. I checked that unplugging it stops the courtesy lights from working too, just in case I'd misread the wiring diagram

I'm still trying to work out where I will plug the EEP0170 !
I thought I'd found the spot but connections don't seem to match.
