Yet more on this one! Having found the time and a rain shower free spell, I fitted the EEP0170.....
It's all progress - On the driver's side the courtesy light comes on when the door opens and the delay function operates. However, on the passenger side , no light when the door opens. I pulled the light out again from the headlining, all seemed fine to me. I unscrewed the "button" in the A pillar, pulled the connection apart and put it back together again. Still no courtesy light when door opens.
Any ideas?
At least the driver's side, the most important side, works

Yoi have either a faulty courtesy light, or faulty wiring to the light from the switch. You could try swopping the courtesy lights back over and that'll cut one out of the things to look at1958 Ford Consul Convertible. I love this car

Ok Jeff, but I did a swap early on having written this and being advised to do so....
"Wired up as you told me......tested. The passenger side illuminated permanently but when switched to the door open/close position, nothing.
The driver's side won't even come on permanently."
Swapping the lights got both to work in the permanently on position.
