  • After over 4000 views on ebay, 1400 views on car and classic and countless offers, i'm happy to say the deposit has been paid and I got what I wanted for the car. I will be sorry to see it go at the of the month. But at least it will be used, the car has created a lot if interest on social media and various websites. I've had quite a few emails and texts about memories people had of their cars

    • Unfortunately a complete timewaster trying to buy this car. I'm now keeping the deposit and have re-listed it. Don't understand why you would pay a large deposit and not the balance. Gave plenty of opportunity too but not to be, shame as I could have been driving it

Do not remember them type of alloys being that common back
          when they where new.

Thanks Alan, dish alloys were only available on MG Montego's for a short time before the cars got a facelift and cross spoke alloys came in, although on poverty spec ones it was steels with covers. Dish alloys did continue though with GSi's

            • Couple of teething troubles sorted today. When leaving an MG natter on Thursday night the alternator belt was squealing and the internal fan lever didn't work properly at full speed, both sorted now. If I do say so myself it's a lovely driving car

Really really sold this time? Just when you were starting to enjoy it a bit tbh, I was surprised when the first 'buyer' bailed out, probably never see another one as good.

Yep sold. The first buyer gave many excuses on not paying up and I got abuse when I put it back up on sale and for a few days after. I could have been enjoying the car but it's done now and sold this time. Did begin to wonder if the time waster had buggared the sale though. I had many wasters in the end and plenty of picture collectors but after over 7000 views on ebay and near 1000 on car and classic its now sold and paid for. Had caused quite a lot of interest so I'm pleased it'll go to someone who will enjoy it and for the first time in 8 years the car is not on my signature

                      • Well this car is now on sale again at mattewsons auction house. I never knew the car was a cat C and I'm assuming it's due to needing a replacement bumper or something as insurance companies write off cars for simple things. The guy who bought it has driven very few miles since he bought it which is a shame as it drives very smooth and looks lovely. I wish him all the best on the sale and I'm interested what sort of price it'll go for.

                        • Can I ask what you sold it for two years ago Jeff? Interested to see where prices are going for our cars. Watching bangers and cash its unbelievable the price some cars are fetching so he might do very well.

Originally £8000, the buyer delayed a lot so I kept his £500 deposit, sold again to the owner who's now selling it for £7200 so £7700 all together which was very near what I wanted for it. It's worth that all say long as such a rare thing. I will watch with interest on its latest sale

                            • I'm surprised that the buyer is selling it so soon, they may well make a couple of quid on it, but they'll never get another...

I don't think it was used much from checking its mot history, could be many reasons why he's selling it. He was extremely happy when he bought it and complimentary on its condition though. Didn't say anything about gaps etc, not like someone who knows nothing about 1980s car production on the Facebook page. I lost it a bit there but won't do that again as I'm not commenting any more on it on that page
