Indeed, he initially said Countryman, it having seven seats. However, I soon saw "no wood inserts" , noted the upholstery and then saw the badging.....

I'm in a mad rush......but quickly spoken to Craig at the garage who now has the car (ARS Ltd - no 'E' ) - He too reckons Johnny's diagnosis could well be correct - "Smoke could be due to being driven too carefully, soot builds up in the exhaust, then gets blown out on the full throttle emissions test" ........and MOT tester wrong.

I too wondered how the hell did it pass previous test - rear of o/s sill had actual rot holes. Not a bad jacking issue.

Re Jacking issue looking at MOT history on 14th September 2022 there was this see below;

Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):

• Nearside Outer sill damaged through jacking
• Offside outer sill has damage trhough jacking

The offside rear rot looks to have been tackled before with filler but has spread either side of said filler. It will be a shame if this one isn't saved. Good spot Morris Montego It look worse than it is methinks. By the way there is this on Car & Classic for the same price as the repairs to M62. Slightly more miles though.

An update on M62 XCM.....the owner's son rang me, and he tells me the car is now stored on his driveway - far better than the back alley by the garage.

I told him of the comments made here.

He also seems to think its registration number may be worth a few hundred quid. A personal plate reflecting its time spent on the M62 it seems.

Incidentally, whilst viewing it, with its spare wheel out of the well, I saw the seat belt buckles for the occasional seat sat bottom of the well. "Oh!", I thought, "that's where mine are! "......and indeed they were. Now held in place again by the fabric loop

I have a call on my phone, late yesterday, from Mathew.......guess he wants to know if anyone here is interested in M62 XCM......

Mathew has just called......his Dad has decided to get all the work done to get the car through its MOT. The Garage (Craig at ARS Ltd) will also see about Historical Vehicle Status making it Tax, MOT exempt before it hits 40 years...,....first I've heard of this, didn't know you could.

Mathew says his Dad's driving days are really over though, so car will very likely be for sale soon. I put him straight regards the high sale price his Dad was thinking of...

Whether or not he gets his money back on the repairs by selling the car will depend on how well they are done. As far as I know the only way to get historic registration on a car that is less than 40 years old by date of registration is if you can prove that it was built more than 40 years ago,not an easy task on a turbo diesel,as the Prima turbo wasn't introduced until 1998.....

.....and with some velcro from the Prestatyn hardware store, the rear buckles now sit snuggly in place.
The piece of velcro already on the seat was fine
