So I removed that and found one tip, buggar, so the head had to come off as I couldn't find the other one. Head removed and I found it wedged into a valve. Removed that and started cleaning up the head and found a broken exhaust manifold stud, luckily I removed that quite easily and replaced it from my spares stash. The head is now all cleaned up and ready to put back on once I've made a gasket up for the air valve stepper motor as that is full of sealant. I've also removed all injectors from the rail, 2 are broken and 2 are clogged up so the next thing is to locate 4 more from my spares, Good job I had nothing to do today, but on a good note, the car started and the valves aren't damaged with the cambelt being found to be 4 teeth out.

Replacement fuel rail and pressure regulator found, 4 injectors found and sprayed as much as possible with carb cleaner inside and cleaned outside, all from my spares, thermostat housing on and thermistor leak done, air valve stepper motor gasket fabricated, head cleaned enough. Just waiting for a replacement head and manifold gaskets to arrive. As xpart are the only place who have them and they're closed due to the virus, I asked a mate of mine and he came up trumps, turbo headgasket will be going on

Ahhh yes, I can see that side of it too,I was thinking more of the finding a gasket bit rather than the needing one bit...On the plus side, better finding thē broken stud now than later when it was finished.

Ah well, as always it's who you know. Been lucky on both broken studs as one snapped holding the waterpump when I removed that. Both the manifold and headgasket are now on their way so maybe able to continue next week sometime, after I've fixed my v8

When we eventually got our mg maestro to run after finding out what was wrong with it,
(failing fuel pump and bad earth ).
After 7 years in the garage, it was brilliant just to hear it run again.
It was a good day, just like when it went for the mot .
They could believe how quick it was!
                keep going pal. Alan.

Yeah I know what that's like Alan, as my hands have healed enough I should be able to put the head back on next week sometime and give my mg montego a rest from completion. It should clear some space out of my shed, If it doesn't rain that is

Heads back on with all wires and pipes put back on, timed up but still not starting. Fuel pump primes but doesn't continue so no pressure. Will have to plug in my fast check that plugs into the fuel ecu and see what's going on, I have a feeling it could be the multifunction unit but will see, anyone have ymb 10022 as a spare ?

Anyone got one of these hanging about. Different part number though ymb10022-f, the one in the pic is for multipoint injection but the Montego is single point. No idea what the difference is internally, I have found a ymb100970 cheap to try but just asking if anyone has one?

Would you believe it, started clearing out the garage that my black MG Montego will be going back in and found a NOS multifunction unit YMB10022 in a box I bought off Mal. I'd forgotten all about that and a few other parts I'd bought off him. Old age forgetfulness creeping up on me then. Might be able to continue on this in August/September if I remember that is lol

Been there, done that, and sold things I shouldn't have that I needed later on. Got rid of a set of dish alloys 6 months before I needed a set, also sold pairs of NOS rear lamps and thought I had kept a set for myself only to discover one of the boxes I had kept was labeled up wrongly so I had 2 of the same side. Won't be doing that again
