  • The car is back now just in time for the rain but I might get a chance to re-start it before the end of the year

    • Had a little time on it today, drivers seat stitching was coming adrift so stripped it down. Mrs sewed it up for me and now back together. Interior will be going back in tomorrow after I've cleaned up inside the car. Should have taken a picture of the seat before starting but forgot

            • In zero degrees the exhaust is now on fully, radio in and working, ash tray back in, all electrics checked and only one bulb now not working, the inner back tail light bulb after changing a couple of dead bulbs and cleaning up some connections. I may have to find another cluster as that's a bit rusty on that connection but see how it goes. I did have a few but threw lots or spares out last year to make room for my wife's Zodiac
              Bleeding the brakes again as very little pressure in the system and the front offside caliper has seized solid, calipers are getting non existence now so ordered a re-build kit.
              Car starts nice and is very quiet with an exhaust on it, getting closer to completion for an MOT inspection soon

              • Re-build kit arrived so that'll give me something to do as the wife's zodiac and my zodiac are not here atm

                • And here we go with the first one. Removed caliper and piston is siezed solid, put into my vice and with a large adjustable spanner and an extension pole it started to move so hammered it out

                      • Failed miserably. Couldn't get the dust shield to go in with the piston on. If I put that on the caliper first the piston won't go in it.

                        • Sussed it, I worked it out. Put seal on the bottom of the piston and leave a little out, put on to the caliper and insert the seal, then push in the piston Happy days

                          • And it's on, first picture was how not to do it, also removed and stripped down the other side. Nothing wrong with the front flexy pipe so left that on.
                            Never knew re-furbing a caliper was that easy once you get the seized piston out. Will do my own from now

                            • And the correct way to do it, leave a little on the end and insert into the grove. Once happy all's in properly push in the piston. Now I have yet another brake issue, the nearside rear brake cylinder won't bleed properly. Pump until it binds and open bleed screw air comes out, then close bleed screw and air back in the pipe, did this for about 30 minutes in the rain and nothing once bled. It's a new cylinder so it has to be the rear flexy pipe as all other bleed ok. I replaced the offside pipe as that burst but didn't do the nearside is didn't look that bad, know doubt that'll snap something when putting the flexy on. All sent to try me as I've run out of rear flexy pipes. Jim at Teesdale has some so will try him
