New fuel pipe done, washers all cleaned out as they were blocked. Other than a battery clamp which I have somewhere in what's left of my spares the car is now ready to go for an MOT. Stinks of stale fuel but with luck 2 gallons of super unleaded on the MOT day should help with the emissionsLast edited by Jeff Turbo; 27th March 2026, 09:25.1958 Ford Consul Convertible. Thanks Nic. It's nearly there then on sale for someone to take if to the next level. Paint job would make it look much better but it'll be a usable car in the meantimeOriginally posted by wee_dav View PostGreat stuff Jeff! Looking good!1958 Ford Consul Convertible. I love this car

Car now booked in for MOT on 6th May. Had a last clean up round the car, cleared out the boot and it's the car that keeps on giving................The radiator fan stopped working again and I traced it back to a bad earth and live wires being very crusty. Rewired it and now working, found the battery clamp and won't do any more to it now until the MOT day when I will put fresh fuel in itLast edited by Jeff Turbo; 22nd April 2026, 16:11.1958 Ford Consul Convertible. Failed, I put the wrong wheels on the front and rear, and emissions. Was 4.5 so too high.Went back in the afternoon to try and get them down but it wasn't having any of it as it settled on 6.0 so worse.
Will drain the tank as it's got old fuel in, clean up the plugs, new air filter as didn't change that and strip down and clean the throttle housing etc After that reset it and try again.1958 Ford Consul Convertible. I love this car

I'm yet to drain the tank as waiting for a couple of parts to arrive. After I've done that I will reset the throttle body and see how that goes. I don't have a emissions tester so with luck can do that if needed at the MOT station on live testing. If ok then put in back in for a retest.Originally posted by Doctordiesel77 View PostNot too bad, wheels easily sorted and emissions might just be crappy fuel, can be a horror to get right if tester is a bit picky tho'...1958 Ford Consul Convertible.
