I've managed to find another regulator in my spares if you need it. It's for the square fuel rail.
Also did a bit of research for you. Fuel regulator is the same as a Jag as I had replaced one many years ago and written it in my manual Replaced 73279A with 73239A and it worked fine after https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=d6e30...2IxZWI4ZTYxMDI

Cheers, but hopefully I should have enough bits now, I might make a test rig up so I can check the regulators I've already got & see if I'm being over paranoid about the diaphragms!

Got a bit more done, PAS pump and pipes fitted. The pipe fittings on the rack are sealed with o rings, the old ones were mangled, so I had to work out what size they used to be... Ended up with 6 and 8mm id viton rings with a 1.8mm section. Hopefully they will be right and won't leak, they are a bit of a pain to fit & a crow foot spanner needed to set them to the right torque (11 lbf-ft, not very tight, unlike some of the ones I've dismantled over the years!). I used the AR belt tension gauge on the alternator and pump belts, these are a bit tighter than the belts on the diesel, using the tool was a good plan I think. Luckily I found a new bottom hose in my parts stash, the Unipart book and the epc aren't super informative, but the one I found is for the right type of water pump and seems to go to all the right places at the other ends (and yes, I did find the box of hoses when I was looking for something else)

Got a bit more done, there was a tiny amount of play on the gear linkage, so I made a roll pin end spreader up on the lathe, must remember that I did this if it is ever to dismantle...it is very tight now! Having a schraeder connection on the fuel line so that a pressure gauge can be fitted without having petrol escaping all over the place seemed like a good plan, so I did a bit more machining and soldering. On the minus side I discovered that the round fuel rail that Jeff kindly supplied only fits the old type manifold, I do have a new one of these, but was too idle to take everything to bits again to fit it! On the plus side I can assemble the old style manifold with the new genuine regulator etc so there is a back up plan if there are any problems with the volvo regulator etc on the newer style set up with the square rail....

This is how it looks now, made up a removeable mounting plate for the radiator, covering the cut out for the M16/T16 power steering pump & filled rad with Evan's waterless coolant. Engine started very quickly, when cranking the fuel pressure was about 40 psi, which is what I expected from the Volvo regulator, but it dropped to about 30 when the engine was running. I suspect that this is caused by either a faulty ballast resistor, or the replacement (I think Chinese) injectors are shovelling too much fuel in...it did restart ok, so maybe not the injectors at fault. I decided to investigate further when I have the garage doors open tho', finding the fault just before being gassed would be a bit counter productive . Only other minor annoyance was that the plugs on the injectors were a bit short, I modified them to get it to work, if they turn out to be ok I'll fit the new style plugs that I got at the auto jumble at today's show.

Coming on a pace now, be done by the end of the year ?
You may have to reset the stepper motor, how to do that is on here somewhere from Gary

Hopefully shouldn't be too long, but still a few bits & pieces like doors to do which may take a while...If emissions misbehave I'll look Gary's post up, cheers!
