    • Hi Jake - it was John Mckean who built the manifold - certainly not me. It's actually back with him now currently receiving other work. Should get it back Wednesday hopefully? My new oil pump is getting threads tapped into it for oil cooler and feed for turbo also. Head is about to get striped for porting work. Cam will be sent off shortly.

How are you getting on with yours Jake?

      cheers

      • Arrrr sounds interesting. I only asked as there's not many people that do toy welding anymore. I do bit not many others do I'm affraid,'I was going to suggest you made them up and sold them as I bet people would buy a few of these manifolds
As twin carbing is easy for over 300bhp straight up with another turbo! Great work!
My turbo is coming along great! almost done with it's entire welding so January is the time it's booked for a sandblast and I'll re spray the entire car straight after then! I have gaZ making me a set of coilovers now and radtec making me a full sis intercooler and alloy radiator 3 core 46mm
Polly bushes all round! Should be a nice car with any luck and big pockets :/ cheers,
        Jake.

            • Just a wee update. The new oil pump I bought off eBay three weeks ago hasn't been machined flat where oil filter connects to it. Luckily the error was spotted before other work on it was completed. It can't be corrected so unfortunately it has to go back. Twin carb manifold is receiving a brake servo take off point that's being welded to it - bracket is being constructed to hold fuel rail - and one of the injector threaded boses is slightly out of line and needs sorted. Hoping it will be completed tomorrow?

I haven't the spare cash at the moment to send parts away while other parts are being worked on. So progress will naturally be slow.

              cheers

                • Hi Peter - that's great thanks - I've since contacted the seller and he says he'll send me another. If its a reject like the first one I will give you a shout Peter - many thanks.

                  cheers

                  • Update - progress is really slow and beyond my control. The engineer guy thats doing the work is soo overwhelmed with other normal bread & butter work the specialized jobs often gets put aside sadly. However some progress is being made all considered. The threaded injector boses on my twin carb manifold are now sorted - brake servo take off point on manifold now complete - injector rail bracket complete. New high flowing plenum is being constructed out of a 3" aluminium tube thats TIG welded to those Rover V8 air intake stubs that can be seen on my website. Now this plenum has no brass ring restrictor like the original plenum has. Instead Pitot tubes are used with no airflow restrictions going into the carbs. V band adaptor for Tial 50mm bov needs to be incorporated in the system. 30psi plus could be possible with modifications to the carbs throttle shafts - basically supply turbo boost to them to equal any pressure differential externally. I have incorporated a Rover SD1 twin choke kit to my carbs - it now has a fully working choke system thats controlled manually.

Pictures to fallow guys when plenum is finished....

i had gearbox company change my speedo ring, has the maestro one is metal and needed to be slowly heated up then removed, if doing it yourself be careful they damage easy

                          • Not much change from £700 Peter I was thinking if I remove the std diff myself and send it away with the Quaife to get adapted at a gearbox specialist - I would save money rather than send the whole gearbox?

                            • Not hard to remove or refit, buy the uprated gearbox bearings on eBay steel caged, diff bearings take a lot of hammering
