More turned up yesterday, has had tape over it in the past but looks like a recent seal. Just needing a bit of a clean then this will be going on the car eventually. Many thanks Mick

After over two years waiting the car project gets re-started sunday now the my sons turbo is done. He wants to get it running etc, tidy it up and possibly get an MOT on it before he puts it up for sale......what year that'll be, who knows.
Either way its easier than these https://maestro.org.uk/forums/forum/...971#post336971

First time these have been together. Throttle body back on but still northing getting to the fuel pump. I couldnt get to work on the car today so Chris did it. As I'm not working to tomorrow and if its not raining I will go through the wiring, starting at the multifunction unit

Well this car is going to be pain. One multifunction unit was dead so I plugged in another. Now got power to the wires into fuel pump. Connect up and it primed so I thought that's it...... But then the power disappears. I get power if I don't connect the pump but once connected nothing under load. So possibly a short somewhere that I'm going to have to try to find. I'm not good at electrics so see what happens. I've also tried another fuel pump and multifunction unit so it looks as though something else is happening.
There was an old alarm on the car so it may still have something connected to the fuel pump wires even though it thought the whole thing was disconnected.
More for me to look at next time

When my sons MG Montego Turbo has passed it's MOT and off my drive this car will be next for me to carry on and this time fix it. One out, one in and will probably have to start again as it's been awhile

Doesn't look too bad at all, but it will no doubt find ways to stop you getting bored

Lots of progress today for the hour I had spare, fuel pump finally working now and was due to the earth behind the offside front light. Cleaned up and put a new connection on it and alls working now so the same issue as Alan's Maestro. Needs a fuel filter next and a battery. After that is connecting up the pump properly etc once I get back from hols. Very pleased

Wired in the fuel pump, connected to a petrol can and started drawing out fuel into another can so I thought yes I can connect to the cars fuel inlet pipe. Connected up and the fuel pump seized, buggar.
Wired up the one that was on the car originally and that wouldn't suck up a tissue so had to stop and have now ordered another fuel pump. One step forward and one back

Annoying, but at least you have power to it now, may be worth filling the seized one with WD40 or similar, iirc the whole thing is normally full of petrol, so might free off with a drink of thin lubricant?

Yeah maybe that would free it up but as I have another on it's way I will use that when I get back from hols. Not doing anything to it until 2nd week of July now as I've also got to pick up a new engine and gearbox for my black MGZT260 that I will be putting in it sometime in the future. Engine swaps on those aren't as easy as Montego's. Brand new engine/gearbox and all ancillaries came up so I bought it
I'm having to remove the clutch again at sometime as it's making a noise when warm but not always and it's slowly getting louder. A faulty part so not a happy chappy when that started, gives me an excuse to put a new engine etc in and sell on mine
And I said no more projects, got two on the go at the moment and that'll be a third though I've nearly finished the green V8, only needs air con pump up, replacement alternator (have one of those) and MOT now, I'm not sure atm whether to use the green V8 while I'm doing the engine or sell it.

I've tried saying 'no more projects' a few times....it didn't work for me either! The V8 looks good & getting a brand new powertrain for the 260 sounds like a brilliant stroke of luck. New, original stuff generally fixes everything at once, definitely a plus when fitting is a bit of a drag...

I don't mind fitting it as I've done that before and it should be easier this time as know what I'm doing, just wasn't expecting it.
Looking forward to picking it up in July though
